Why did you choose Ajijic to create your sculpture?
Ajijic was always the place where he came to vacation as a child. It is a quiet town with lots of light and peace to create. My lakefront studio is very inspiring. I am making a monumental textile sculpture that wants to represent the territory of the Zapotec culture from Oaxaca, Juchitán de Zaragoza, to the coast (Punta Conejo) where the documentary was filmed.
I believe that art and culture play an important role in building an inclusive society. The sculpture-installation and the documentary (Muxe the language of art and culture) will be presented in Kansas City this year and at the International art fair festival in Amsterdam, edition 2022, and at the Brick gallery, in London, England. These are only confirmed commitments. More will come.
